Task 1.1.

Various dictionaries provide different explanations for the term “art”.

Cambridge Dictionary defines "art" as:

·        “the making of objects, images, music, etc. that are beautiful or that express feelings”.

Oxford Dictionary gives the following definition of the notion "art":

·        “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power”.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary characterizes "art" as:

·        “the conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects”.

Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English defines this term as:

·        “the use of painting, drawing, sculpture etc to represent things or express ideas”.

In accordance with these explanations my personal understanding of this notion is evinced as the following:

·        “Art” is the manifestation of human inner life and the interpretation of the fundamental principles of life by means of pictures, sculpture, films, etc.
